South Flagler Residence

El Cid

The life of this residence began with a vision for the perfectly engineered home, customized for a discerning and artistically astute couple.

Nestled in the historic El Cid area, the heart of West Palm Beach, the home needed to balance the technical demands of a rising sea level, stringent building codes, and the standards of the city’s review board tasked with the responsibility to protect the delicate fabric of the celebrated neighborhood.

Precedent for this home is drawn on past practitioners in the Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean Revival styles like Addison Mizner and Maurice Fatio.
Details and massing alike are inspired by original sources from Andalusia and southern Spain. A humble and timeless palate blends this new home with its historically significant neighbors.

Process & Details

Schematic design is where vision begins to take form. These early sketches explore massing, proportion, and site orientation — laying the foundation for a home that feels timeless, contextual, and deeply connected to its surroundings.
This site overlay illustrates the original home alongside the proposed layout for the new residence. Thoughtfully oriented to the site, the new design maximizes views, preserves mature trees, and enhances the home’s connection to its unique corner lot.
Material selection is deeply personal—it’s where vision meets touch. When the architect, builder, interior designer, and client work in harmony, the result is a home that not only looks beautiful but feels meaningful in every detail.
Each hand-drawn detail reflects the care and precision behind every decision—shaping a home tailored to our clients and their way of living.
Fluted walls have a rich history rooted in classical architecture, originally used in ancient Greek and Roman columns to add rhythm, light, and shadow. Today, this timeless detail brings texture and elegance to modern interiors — bridging past and present with quiet sophistication.
From hand-drawn elevation to hand-carved marble, this fireplace is a study in craftsmanship — bringing old-world artistry into a modern home.
Carefully placed gardens by landscape architect, Keith Williams, bring the architecture to life. Each planting was thoughtfully composed to complement and elevate the home’s design.
