John Melhorn

Principal

John Melhorn is the founder and creative director of Melhorn Architecture and Construction, a firm based in Jupiter, Florida, that specializes in custom design and construction. After earning a degree in architecture from the University of Miami, John’s professional career began in New York City, where he gained practical experience in classical design and interior architecture. With this formative foundation John launched his firm in 2012, bringing with him a deep passion for both the technical and creative sides of architecture, centered on sound proportion and detail. Rather than any one particular style, John’s emphasis is on creating spaces uniquely tailored to the client, thoughtfully incorporating modern amenities yet allowing each project to feel timeless - the careful blending of aesthetics and functionality. John is known for his patience and a focus on the bigger picture. He is quick to credit the team and highlight the quality of their collective work in the success of the firm. The values of stewardship, integrity, and collaboration are the foundation for his leadership approach. John, with his wife Julie, and their three children have called South Florida their home for over 20 years.
