Oakmeade Residence

Old Marsh Golf Club

Situated on the edge of a marsh and nestled into a grove of slash pines, this house embraces its location, taking design cues from traditional Florida vernacular architecture, with deep eaves for shade and large double hung windows for ample light. The rear yard and new pool were laid out intentionally to capture select views of the golf course and the sunsets to the west.

Having the opportunity to design and build your own home is the desire of every architect. Purchased from foreclosure, the existing house was characterless and neglected. It underwent a thoughtful renovation that elevated the look of the home while providing an easygoing but refined retreat for a young family. It has served as a testing ground for many of the ideas and techniques that were later implemented in Melhorn projects.
