Fink Residence

Jupiter Inlet Colony

It was a true journey that this couple unknowingly embarked on in order to build their perfect beachfront home. The vision from the beginning was a neighborhood house near their children and grandchildren where everyone could gather and enjoy elevated beachside living.

Every project has its challenges but this residence more than any before it. Previous attempts to build on this lot resulted in a site with a foundation already in place. This condition, along with the client’s vision and the engineering requirements of coastal construction were each considered in the formula of this home. Sadly just a week from completion, a series of storms culminated in a devastating erosion of the entire backyard and beach. Suspended over the oceans edge, this home was immediately put to the test and made headlines in national news. Ultimately, the planning and construction techniques kept the home itself intact and ready for a successful move-in shortly thereafter.

Process & Details

The schematic design process translates a vision to a clear path forward. Conceptual layouts and visuals like these foster understanding and alignment of the design team before diving into construction.
Building along the ocean’s edge requires compliance with zoning codes, coastal construction regulations, and a rigorous permitting processes to protect the environment, ensure structural safety, and maintain community standards. Our team carefully navigates this complex process. In tandem with considerations of context of the site, views, prevailing breezes, and sun angles.
Detailed renderings and progress photography allow offer insight and certainty into the design during the early stages of the project.
The intersection of architecture and construction is where projects succeed or fail. The best ideas and solutions occur when everyone has a voice at the table.
Crafted with care and built to endure, this home tells a story of resilience. Just prior to move in, a major erosion event reshaped the shoreline and compromised the entire backyard. Due in large part to the level of design and work put in place at the start, we were able to restore everything to its proper place and get the clients moved in.
